CREAMERY TOUR

Online Tour of the Creamery at Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery

Welcome to an online tour of our creamery which is located on the bottom level of our Farm Store. The creamery consists of 5 rooms and a storage room.

The magic begins in the Milking Parlor. The Nubian goats are brought into the parlor two at a time from an outside holding area to be milked on a double milking stand. From this room, they exit back out to their pasture.

The adjoining room is our Milk Processing Room where the milk is filtered into buckets to be poured into the pasteurizer and where the milking machine and milk buckets are washed, stored and sanitized just before their use.

The Cheesemaking Room is a manufacturing room where the cheese is made. Our 30-gallon pasteurizer is located in this room along with our chiller, work tables, mixer, vacuum sealer, sinks, drain table, cheese press, freezer and refrigerator.  Visit the Cheesemaking page to learn more about how we make cheese.

A Cheese Cave is located just off of the Cheesemaking Room where our raw milk cheese is stored on shelves and kept in a humidity and temperature controlled environment while it ages using a dedicated air conditioner and CoolBot.

We also have a Vestibule which leads into the Cheesemaking Room from the outside for changing out of our “outside clothing” and dressing in “dedicated dairy clothing” which includes coats/aprons, shoes and hair nets/hats. A small Storage Room located just off the Vestibule contains our hot water heater, electric fuse boxes, packaging and equipment supplies.
