Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery Continues to Expand
Susan Williamson
Contributing Writer
Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery in Germanton became Forsyth County’s only Grade B goat dairy operation when they received their license on October 2.
Farmstead aged raw milk goat cheese is a new product at the Farm Store located at 3255 Buffalo Creek Farm Road off Germanton Road.
The cheeses are aged two to eight months. Currently they produce a tomme style cheese and a gouda with fresh chevre planned for 2013 production. All cheeses are made on the farm from their own goats. A neighbor, Buffalo Creek Dairy, is the only remaining commercial cow dairy operation in Forsyth County.
Robin and Johnny Blakley’s farm, Buffalo Creek Farm and Creamery, already produced goat milk soap from their dairy goat herd. They announced last year that they had plans to have the creamery online this year to produce goat cheese.
Their 34-acres are also home to grass fed beef, free range poultry and lamb, offered for sale in the new Farm Store just off Germanton Road in northern Forsyth County. Other items for sale include goat cheese, farm fresh eggs, goat milk soap, handmade gifts, jams and jellies, candy, honey, goat items and more.
The Farm Store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.buffalocreekfarmandcreamery.com
